VEREENIGING BRANCH YEAR END FUNCTION

On the 7th November 2020 the Gunners’ Association, Vereeniging Branch held its year-end function at Creative Talents, in Vereeniging.

63 People attended the function and customary to the Vereeniging branch the guests were spoiled with good food and wine and hospitality by honorary Gunner Yolindi Stander and her team at Creative Talents.

Guests of honour were Gunners Piet Langenhoven, Danie Muller and Lourens Human.

The guest speaker on the day was General (retired) Georg Meiring and he gave the audience a succinct overview of his experience and challenges in the office of the first Chief of the South African National Defence Force (1994 – 1998).  The Branch also used the opportunity to promote General Meiring’s book “Soldaat en Mens” by means of a mini auction of a few books available on the day and all the proceeds from the auction will be transferred to the gun restoration project.

One of the highlights of the day was the handover of the nonagenarian certificate to gunner Lourens Human who turned 90 in July 2020.

The Vereeniging Branch calendar for 2021 starts in February 2021 with the annual planning meeting during which the 2021 Branch functions and activities will be confirmed.
