On 11 April 2025, over 40 veterans and military history enthusiasts converged in Potchefstroom for a memorable presentation by Maj Gen. (Ret) Koos Laubscher) and Col (Ret) Pierre Franken who shared powerful first-hand accounts from the artillery frontlines of the Angolan Bush War. The event, hosted under the theme Scire Non Frustra – “To Know is Not in Vain” – delivered insight and reflection on a critical period of South African military history.
The presentation, described by many attendees as “brilliant,” offered a vivid and personal telling of the artillery experience during the conflict.
The gathering drew attendees from across the regions, including Bloemfontein, Rustenburg, Kempton Park, Pretoria, and Vereeniging—testament to the significance of the occasion. Special thanks go to these individuals for their commitment to preserving and learning from our shared past.
