The activities of a very productive 2023 culminated on a high note for the Johannesburg branch of the Gunners’ Association.
The branch hosted the annual Christmas luncheon for the residents of GEM Homes in Randburg, together with the assistance from a team of very talented ladies. Thank you very much, ladies.
Around 68 residents, together with 23 Gunners and visitors filled the hall at GEM in anticipation of a scrumptious meal and good camaraderie
After the opening formalities, all present enjoyed a true South African summer Christmas lunch of roast meats, salads a plenty, and rounded off the meal with lovely trifle and ice cream.
Good food, plenty of liquid refreshments, friendly banter and general chat was enjoyed by all and it was such a pleasure to experience the joy of residents and members during the afternoon.
In true Gunners’ tradition, the afternoon ended with toasts to “The Guns. By them we live. For them we would die. Whatever the mission, we give it a try. We serve them with Honour, because they are the ones, that make us Artillery men.”
And concluded with the toast to the Roll of Honour of the Johannesburg branch, “Our proudest……yet saddest possession.” “We will remember Them.”
